Gateway Science Academy Musicians Selected for 2026 E. Des Lee Honors Music Festival

Gateway Science Academy students in St. Louis recently participated in the 2026 E. Des Lee Honors Music Festival at the University of Missouri–St. Louis, demonstrating strong musical talent, leadership, and dedication. This prestigious regional event brings together top middle and high school musicians, providing opportunities to collaborate, grow and perform in a professional setting.

This year, 10 Gateway Science Academy musicians were selected to represent their school. Students trained with renowned conductors Twinda Murray and David Wacyk before delivering memorable performances at the Blanche M. Touhill Performing Arts Center. The experience allowed them to refine their skills while building connections within a larger musical community.

Among the selected musicians, several earned leadership roles and featured performance opportunities, reflecting their dedication and strong preparation. Gateway Science Academy is proud to recognize the following students:

In addition to their musical achievements, the program continues to build a strong culture of mentorship and leadership. Senior musician Collin Heller plans to pursue Music Education and is already giving back by supporting younger students, showing the impact of student leadership and service within the Gateway community.

Following the high school performances, Gateway Science Academy middle school musicians also had the opportunity to perform on the same stage, continuing the tradition of excellence and preparing the next generation of musicians.
