Concept School's Spoken Word Program

Concept Schools offers students a variety of ways to apply their skills in real-life situations because we recognize the power of language and public speaking.

Where Student Voices Come to Life

Our Spoken Word event invites students to step into language with their whole selves—mind, body, and emotion. Unlike traditional writing assignments that often stay on the page, Spoken Word asks young people to bring their ideas into the air, where they can be heard, felt, and responded to. This process helps students experience the real-world impact of their voices.

Finding Strength in Every Story Told

Through writing, refining, and performing their own work, students learn that their perspectives matter. The act of performing builds confidence: students learn to speak with intention, hold an audience’s attention, and stand behind their stories.

Honoring Identity Through Authentic Expression

Spoken Word also fosters deep self-expression. It gives students room to explore identity, emotion, and lived experience in a creative format that honors authenticity. Many discover that language becomes more powerful when it reflects who they truly are.

Owning Your Voice, Inside and Out

In short, Spoken Word performance helps students find, develop, and trust their voices—transforming communication from something they do into something they own.
