Concept School's Science Program
The Science Department at Concept Schools is dedicated to fostering a rigorous and engaging STEM learning environment where students develop the skills and mindset of real scientists and engineers. Our instructional approach integrates hands-on investigations, literacy-rich tasks, and interactive digital tools to support students in developing the analytical, creative, and problem-solving skills required for future success.
Across all grade levels, students engage in meaningful scientific inquiry by designing and conducting experiments, observing and collecting authentic data, and using evidence to communicate their findings. Through these experiences, they build a deep understanding of scientific concepts while also strengthening essential skills such as data analysis, scientific writing, collaboration, and engineering design.
Concept Schools emphasizes exposure to multiple resources and varied learning experiences to ensure students interact with science in diverse and relevant ways. This includes structured lab investigations, open-ended design challenges, digital simulations, and opportunities to connect scientific concepts to real-world problems.
To further support a culture of scientific curiosity and excellence, students are given formal opportunities to showcase their scientific work at CONSEF, an annual STEM fair where all Concept Schools participate. By presenting their research, engineering designs, and investigations to authentic audiences, students gain confidence, receive meaningful feedback, and see themselves as active contributors to the scientific community.
Through this comprehensive STEM approach, Concept Schools prepares students not only to master academic standards but also to develop the habits of mind, creativity, and resilience necessary to thrive in college, careers, and an increasingly innovation-driven world.
