Where Numbers Spark Confidence
Our mathematics program integrates STEM connections throughout every grade level, using research-based strategies that develop students into confident mathematical thinkers. Through hands-on problem-solving, collaborative learning experiences, and real-world applications, students build deep conceptual understanding alongside computational fluency. Our curriculum emphasizes critical thinking and reasoning skills, preparing students to approach mathematical challenges with curiosity and perseverance while making meaningful connections across STEM disciplines.Concept School's Mathematics Program
The Concept Schools Mathematics Department, serving grades 6-12, is dedicated to fostering deep conceptual understanding and practical application, aligning closely with the organizational model’s core principle of STEM Focus. Our secondary math program promotes a holistic educational approach that emphasizes critical thinking, active learning, reasoning, and creativity in every student. Through problem-solving, hands-on learning, and embedding mathematical language routines, our teachers cultivate students into confident mathematical thinkers who achieve high levels of math literacy. We believe that all students are capable of mastering mathematics, and our commitment to rigorous, discourse-centered instruction ensures students engage with meaningful contexts and beautiful ideas of mathematics.
Our curriculum is meticulously designed and built on logical progressions of topics across grade levels, informed by research on students' cognitive development. This standards-aligned content integrates STEM connections to help students make meaningful links across math, science, and technology. The service we provide to our schools includes continuous curriculum development and updating, creating End-of-Course (EOC) and Checkpoint Assessments, and recommending instructional resources. Furthermore, we employ a personalized educational experience, utilizing a multitude of data points to analyze each student's performance and develop effective strategies to ensure essential skills are mastered. We review testing data for network trends, identify students' strengths and weaknesses, and provide targeted feedback to teachers, including re-teaching strategies.
To support our educators in delivering this high-quality instruction, the department offers comprehensive professional development (PD), school visits, and instructional modeling to build teacher capacity. We organize and facilitate regional PD days, teacher institutes, and training sessions focused on utilizing resources like ALEKS and Reveal Math. Speaking directly to the Growth & Opportunity pillar of Concept Schools, we provide extensive exposure to enrichment programs beyond the classroom. Students are encouraged to participate in major network events like MathCON, a program dedicated to reaching tens of thousands of students, as well as external national competitions such as Math Olympics, Mathcounts, Math League, and Kangaroo. Through these rigorous academic experiences, we equip our grade 6-12 students not only with the academic knowledge but also the competencies required to thrive in college, careers, and an increasingly innovation-driven world
