Leading for Impact: Highlights of the October 2026 Principal Professional Development Event

The leadership team at Concept Schools firmly believes that each school in our network requires leaders who envision and environment in which a lasting impact is made on every stakeholder which comprises their school – students, teachers, staff members, and community partners alike. This concept became one of the values shared at the 2026 Principal Professional Development event, which brought together principals, superintendents, Directors of Teaching and Learning, and network leaders for two days of focused learning and leadership growth.

Designed to build leadership capacity across the Concept Schools network, the gathering concentrated on strengthening instructional leadership, refining management systems, setting clear expectations, and building a culture of continuous accountability to drive student achievement.

Why We Gather As a United Leadership Team

The Principal Professional Development event is built to provide school administrators with practical tools, research-informed strategies, and a collaborative space to learn from one another. This event aligns school leaders around shared expectations, equipping principals to adapt Concept Schools priorities into impactful daily practices within their campuses. Our ultimate goal goes beyond the development of better managers; it is to empower instructional leaders who create the environments where teachers succeed and students thrive.

Event Structure and Key Takeaways

The event was structured across two dedicated days:

  • Day 1: Focused onboarding and targeted development designed specifically for new principals.
  • Day 2: A full-network session welcoming all principals across Concept Schools.

Feedback from 45 participants reflected an overwhelmingly positive reception, earning an overall satisfaction rating of 4.60 out of 5 with 93% of respondents rating the experience favorably.

Participants highlighted several major themes and "aha" moments throughout the event:

  • Intentional Leadership & Follow-Through: A key takeaway from a presentation by Blueprint Education was that effective leadership demands consistent monitoring and constructive feedback. The mantra "See it, address it" deeply resonated with attendees.
  • Proactive Management Systems: Leaders recognized the need to move away from reactive problem-solving and toward establishing steady, predictable management routines that support accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Peer-to-Peer Wisdom: A breakout session on school culture and climate stood out as a highlight. Participants praised the opportunity to hear about authentic experiences, real-world strategies, and candid lessons from fellow principals.
  • Reflective Leadership: A session titled Identity Under Pressure challenged administrators to examine their own behaviors during tough implementations, and to consider how their leadership style impacts those around them.
  • The "Why" Behind the Work: The event concluded with an inspiring presentation by Concept Schools CEO, Sedat Duman, featuring a former Concept Schools student. This powerful conversation served as a vivid reminder of the lasting mark educators and school leaders leave on students' lives.

Looking Ahead

The greatest, overarching lesson taken from this conference is that effective leadership is not solely about knowing what to do, but rather about consistently doing what matters most.

While our network school leaders returned to their campuses with actionable tools, their feedback underscored a clear demand for ongoing collaboration, practice, and growth. That input reinforces our commitment to treating professional development as continuous journey towards higher levels and standards of excellence.
