The excitement was felt from the moment students walked through the doors at MathCON 2026. Hallways buzzed with energy, students gathered with teammates and families, and competitors from across the country prepared for a day centered around mathematics, problem-solving, and academic excellence.
Hosted by Concept Schools at McCormick Place in Chicago, this year’s MathCON Finals welcomed 777 finalists representing more than 30 states and Canada, bringing together some of the nation’s top young mathematicians for an unforgettable experience.
For many students, MathCON represented more than a competition. It was an opportunity to challenge themselves, meet peers who share similar passions, and experience the excitement of learning in a completely new environment.
This year’s MathCON National Champions included:
- 4th Grade — Zachary Allen, National Math Stars (Ohio)
- 5th Grade — Naythan Xu, Wildwood Elementary School (Louisiana)
- 6th Grade — Rongzeng Zhou, Discovery Middle School (Indiana)
- 7th Grade — Luke Zhang, Whitney M Young Magnet High School (Illinois)
- 8th Grade — Max Jin, iLearning (New York)
- 9th Grade — Rishabh Rajesh, Russian School of Mathematics (Illinois)

One of the highlights of this year’s event was the debut of Digit, MathCON’s official mascot. Making his first-ever appearance at the finals, Digit quickly became a favorite among students and families as he welcomed attendees and posed for photos.
Beyond the competition itself, the event reflected the larger mission behind MathCON, creating opportunities for students to challenge themselves and discover what they are capable of.
“Growth begins where comfort ends,” said Sedat Duman, CEO and President of Concept Schools. “Every student deserves opportunities to be challenged, inspired, and pushed to discover their full potential. That is exactly what MathCON continues to provide — not only for our students, but for students across the nation.”
At the venue, younger students looked on with excitement, families cheered on competitors, and finalists encouraged one another between rounds. For many attendees, the atmosphere served as a reminder that academic achievement can build not only knowledge, but also confidence, friendships, and inspiration for the future.
“What makes me especially proud is that Concept Schools has never believed in keeping good things to ourselves,” Duman said. “If we have something valuable to offer, we believe in sharing it with the larger educational community. MathCON is one of the greatest examples of that vision in action.”
Concept Schools congratulates all 777 finalists and thanks the students, families, educators, volunteers, and staff members who helped make MathCON 2026 such a meaningful and inspiring event.
