Gateway Science Academy Student Finishes as National Mathematics Bee Semifinalist

Gateway Science Academy Middle School is celebrating an impressive national accomplishment after student Michael Vanden Berg finished as a semifinalist in the National Mathematics Bee, held in Orlando, Florida.

The competition brought together outstanding students from across the country, challenging participants through advanced mathematical problem-solving and fast-paced academic competition. Michael competed against some of the nation’s top young mathematicians and his semifinalist finish reflects months of preparation, dedication, and hard work both inside and outside the classroom, while also marking a proud moment for the GSA Middle community.

Earlier during the event weekend, Michael and fellow GSA Middle student Sofia White also represented the school at the National Geography Bee, National History Bee, and National Mathematics Bee. Competing alongside approximately 400 students from across the country, both students demonstrated strong academic preparation, focus, and confidence throughout the events.

For students, opportunities like these provide more than competition alone. They offer the chance to apply classroom learning in a challenging environment, connect with peers who share similar interests, and gain experience competing at a national level.

Michael’s advancement to the semifinal round stands as a proud moment for the Gateway Science Academy Middle community and reflects the culture of academic excellence and student achievement encouraged throughout the Concept Schools network.

Concept Schools congratulates Michael on this outstanding accomplishment and applauds both Michael and Sofia for representing their school community with excellence on the national stage.Concept Schools Logo
