Students from Horizon Science Academy Columbus High School have advanced multiple teams to the upcoming regional championship, continuing a strong year of competition for the school’s growing drone program.
During last year’s competition season, the school participated with three teams, all of which advanced to the regional championships and competed in the finals. One team earned the title of regional champion, and the program achieved notable recognition in the programming category, placing 2nd in the world. In total, the teams earned 13 awards, and Coach Ismail Dal was recognized with the Coach of the Year Award.
This year, the program has expanded to include five drone teams, reflecting increased student interest and participation. In addition to competition preparation, the school has introduced drone courses to help students develop technical skills and work toward obtaining their drone pilot licenses.
