Students from Chicago Math & Science Academy (CMSA) earned the 1st Place Inspire Award, the highest honor presented at the Illinois State Finals Robotics Competition, following an outstanding performance this past weekend.
The Illinois State Finals bring together top FIRST Tech Challenge teams from across the state to compete in robot performance, engineering design, and team interviews. In addition to on-field matches, teams are evaluated on innovation, collaboration, outreach, and how they represent the principles of FIRST.
The Inspire Award recognizes the team that best embodies the spirit of the program. Irene Demirace, Community Engagement & Public Relations at CMSA, shared:
“This award recognizes a team that serves as a strong ambassador for FIRST programs, exemplifies Gracious Professionalism both on and off the field, and demonstrates excellence in design, collaboration, and community engagement.”
Earning this award reflects months of preparation, testing, redesign, and teamwork. It also highlights the dedication of coaches Mr. Nazim and Ms. Albina, the encouragement of families, and the continued support of S&C Electric Company.
Congratulations to the CMSA Robotics team on this significant achievement at the Illinois State Finals.
