A Celebration of Student Innovation in STEM

CONSEF, which stands for the Concept Schools Science and Engineering Fair, is a large annual event designed to engage students in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) learning through hands-on projects and competitions. It brings together students from across the Concept Schools network to showcase their knowledge and experimentation in areas ranging from scientific research to engineering design. The fair includes a variety of activities such as project displays, poster sessions, and interactive demonstrations, all aimed at celebrating student creativity, curiosity, and innovation across STEM disciplines.

Multiple Competitions that Spark Creativity

In addition to the core science and engineering fair, CONSEF features multiple competitive and learning tracks that broaden participation and appeal. These include a design contest, robotics competitions like ROBOCON, Math Olympics to highlight mathematical thinking, and even a STEM Exposition where students can explore emerging ideas and technologies. The event encourages students to not only present their work but also to engage with peers and judges, helping them build confidence and communication skills.

In Concept Schools, by exposing the student to multiple resources, development of experiments or design, observation and collections of data, and organization and presentation of their investigations, students will gain insight into current issues and strengthen creative thinking skills required to succeed in the future. Students will be given the opportunity to present their work at CONSEF where all members of Concept Schools participate.

A Major Event Showcasing Talent and Achievement

The fair is hosted at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, Illinois, and extends across various STEM activities and deadlines throughout the academic year. It emphasizes collaboration and recognition, offering awards across multiple categories for both junior and senior divisions, and provides opportunities for participants to receive feedback and honors for their accomplishments. The large scope of participation and variety of events reflect an inclusive approach to celebrating students’ talents in STEM fields.

Inspiring Future Scientists and Engineers

CONSEF fosters enthusiasm and support fostered among students. This dynamic and unique event helps spark future interest in STEM careers and contribute to personal growth through exploration, creativity, and problem-solving.
