At Concept Schools, we get a little bit excited about all things related to science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). We always keep an eye out for what’s going on in STEM in the news. Each week we will share what we think is awesome and worth learning about.

Apple and Lego bring your imagination to life

Children have incredible imaginations, and the role of play and building in learning is crucial to childhood development. For those of us who were born before iPhones and iPad’s, we made do with a box of Lego and silly voices to bring our stories to life, but pretty soon kid’s today will be able to do much more. At it’s Worldwide Developer Conference yesterday, Apple demonstrated how it’s new ARkit technology can take physical Lego creations and expand them into an interactive play space. Imagine the possibilities for education, imagination, and growth as students get to let their imaginations run wild. 


When English Language Arts and Gaming work together

A new high school curriculum has combined English with Gaming. The goal of the curriculum is to combine learning with things that students are interested in. The world esports holds a variety of material for teachers to discuss things like mythology, plot, character development, persuasive writing, and more. 



Teaching kids about climate change

Climate change is a very real issue that we have to deal with, but how do we teach young kids about the way our earth is affected by climate change? Check out the video below to see a great way to keep young students engaged while covering climate science.
