MTSS & Assessment

Concept School's MTSS & Assessment
Concept Schools’ Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) is a proactive, student-centered framework designed to ensure every learner receives the instruction and interventions they need to thrive academically, behaviorally, and socially. At the foundation of our model is high-quality, differentiated instruction, where teachers deliver rigorous core instruction that is responsive to diverse learning styles, cultural backgrounds, and individual student needs. Through universal screening, conducted multiple times throughout the year, we identify students who may require additional support early. This allows intervention before small gaps become larger barriers.
Our structured tiered levels of support provide increasing layers of intervention based on student progress and need. Tier 1 represents strong, research-based core instruction for all students; Tier 2 provides targeted, small-group interventions; and Tier 3 offers intensive, individualized support. The district’s new MTSS data portal serves as a central hub for documenting interventions, analyzing progress, and coordinating supports across teams. This tool enhances our capacity for progress monitoring, ensuring that educators have timely, accurate data to evaluate student response to interventions and make adjustments when needed.
A critical component of our MTSS framework is data-based decision making. Teachers and data teams use assessment data, progress monitoring trends, and observational information to refine instructional strategies, match students with the appropriate interventions, and allocate resources efficiently. Our emphasis on intervention fidelity ensures that supports are implemented consistently and as intended, maximizing their impact and providing a clear picture of what is working for students.
To sustain and strengthen this system, our district invests in continuous professional development for educators, interventionists, and school leaders. Through ongoing training, coaching, and collaborative data meetings, staff build their capacity to implement evidence-based practices with confidence and consistency. Together, these elements create a comprehensive, cohesive MTSS model that reflects our commitment to equity, early intervention, and improved outcomes for every student.
